Here are a few highlights from our Studio&#8217;s recent activities.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nTHE FUTURE STARTS HERE, V&amp;A MUSEUM<\/strong><br \/>\nWe worked with the design and curatorial team at the V&amp;A to produce six films for their landmark show <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/exhibitions\/the-future-starts-here\">\u2018The Future Starts Here\u2019<\/a> which opened on 12th May. From a film about how smart objects in a home might become protagonists to the ecologies of technological networks, mass protests to cryonic preservations \u2013 our films bring social, cultural and environmental context to the objects and technologies being displayed.<\/p>\n<p>Open to the public until <strong>4 November<\/strong>, this exhibition is composed of more than 100 objects: a landscape of possibilities for a not-too-distant future.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2976\" src=\"http:\/\/superflux.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/VA_newsletter_02.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"331\" srcset=\"https:\/\/superflux.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/VA_newsletter_02.png 1200w, https:\/\/superflux.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/VA_newsletter_02-270x74.png 270w, https:\/\/superflux.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/VA_newsletter_02-768x212.png 768w, https:\/\/superflux.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/VA_newsletter_02-1024x282.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MANTIS SYSTEMS FOR BOND, UNDP &amp; NESTA<br \/>\n<\/strong>In early spring we were commissioned by three organisations: BOND, UNDP, and Nesta to challenge the pervasive culture of short-termism.<\/p>\n<p>We infiltrated the Bond conference with Mantis Systems: a fictional artificial intelligence start-up we created for the development sector. By directly experiencing the Mantis Systems exhibition booth, development practitioners were able to more fully comprehend the consequences of this possible future, thinking critically about the opportunities and risks of different applications of AI in development. <a href=\"http:\/\/superflux.in\/index.php\/work\/mantissystems\/#\">Read more here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mantis World\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/257363441?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>EVIDENCING HUMANITARIAN FUTURES<\/strong><br \/>\nWe worked with the <a href=\"http:\/\/media.ifrc.org\/innovation\/future-and-foresight\/the-future-is-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies<\/a> (IFRC), to help them cultivate a proactive and anticipatory culture through a series of concepts across AI, alternate finance, healthcare and climate change. <a href=\"http:\/\/superflux.in\/index.php\/work\/humanitarianfutures\/#\">Read more about<\/a>\u00a0the work here.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/252674413?app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"Donaid - IFRC Platform\" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>IxDA: INTERACTIONS 18<\/strong><br \/>\nIs our modern belief in progress a false religion? The promise and compulsion of growth appear to move us forward, but at what cost? Anab joined <a href=\"https:\/\/interaction18.ixda.org\/\">IxDA at Interaction 18 in Lyon<\/a> to propose the possibility of exploring a more-than-human, multi-species perspective \u2013 whether involving other biological species, or non-human Machine-species or deep ecology. We are using this form of random selection as we would like to encourage fair and engaged discussion which actively represents a microcosm of society.
