PROFESSORSHIP AT THE UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED ARTS VIENNA
I am delighted to share some exciting news. I have been appointed Full Professor of Industrial Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. I will be leading the course’s vision, building on the work of Fiona Raby, who led the course for five years before moving to the New School in New York.
Our work at Superflux investigates the complexities of our rapidly changing technological landscapes, and the social, political, economic, and cultural implications of such changes. Building on our experience and interests, it is my hope that I can bring a mode of enquiry amongst students and nurture an open-ended, critical, politically, and socially relevant creative position. I hope that the course will equip them with the capacity to act and excel in our rapidly changing and increasingly complex world; whether they work as independent designers, within organisations or create entirely new modes of activity.
I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to share ideas and be inspired by an exceptionally talented group of students as well as a supportive team of tutors and administrators in this endeavour.

This role will be an opportunity for us at Superflux to explore new research territories, strategies and materials.I will very much continue to live in London, and together with Jon Ardern, lead Superflux into its new (and exciting!) phase of consulting projects and research activity, as our team grows and we prepare to move into our new studio imminently. More on that front soon.
In the meantime I will be reaching out to all of you amazing friends and colleagues who are also educators to learn and share approaches and plot collaborations.
