Superflux are invited to contribute a new work to the 17th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2020, now postponed to 2021. The 17th International Architecture Exhibition will last six months, running from 22 May 2021 to 21 November 2021. Superflux will be exhibiting as part of La Biennale Di Venezia Architettura “How Will We Live Together?” curated by Hashim Sarkis.

Despite the lockdown, the Superflux team have been hard at work developing our installation from various locations around the UK. Read on for a few sneak peeks at our process.

Here, Jon and Ed explore unusual material combinations and compositions at our workshop near Oxford. Ed had the pleasure (or was it a curse?) of working with this beautiful locally felled Oak for three months straight.

On the Orkney archipelago, in the very north of Scotland, Leanne has been combing the miles of local coastline for materials to which we might offer a new lease of life.

Whittling has become a core practice of our studio in the last year. From seasoned bamboo to lichen-covered sycamore branches – we’re always looking for an excuse to carve something new and unique!

Matt’s been crafting storyboards that our project collaborator Sebastian Tiew has been using to create some breathtaking scenes using 3D game engines.
