Work
A Just World on a Safe Planet
Continuing our collaboration with Earth Commission, Superflux designed a digital triptych artwork to accompany their landmark report 'A just World on a Safe Planet', narrating our possible evolution towards a collective future.
The Ecological Intelligence Agency
Superflux were commissioned Policy Lab in partnership with Defra Futures and the Policy Profession Unit to consider the question “How can we transform what the freshwater system looks like, 20 years from now and beyond?”. The result: the first iteration of our studio’s ongoing speculations into the possibility of Ecological AI.
Mitigation of Shock (Singapore)
The second iteration of our ongoing project: Mitigation of Shock. Mitigation of Shock (Singapore) transports visitors to an apartment in the second half of the 21st century and allows them to experience how we might live in a world transformed by global warming.
STARK CHOICES
Stark Choices is an experiential simulation of life in 2030, where certain current projections around the future of work and automation have been realised. This speculative, immersive installation was presented to educators, policy and decision-makers at GESF2018.
EVIDENCING HUMANITARIAN FUTURES
We were recently invited by the International Federation of Red Cross to speculate, show evidence, and then provoke their conference attendees to anticipate looming challenges and potentialities. We wanted to understand: What challenges might face the humanitarian and development sector in the near future?
OUR FRIENDS ELECTRIC
Our Friends Electric is a design fiction and speculative design project exploring alternate forms and interactions for voice AI, commissioned by Michelle Thorne and Jon Rogers from Mozilla’s Open IoT Studio. The final film explores our developing relationship with voice activated AI assistants, and the future potential of these relationships through three fictional devices.
HOW WILL WE WORK?
We are delighted to be able to share How Will We Work? a new exhibition at the Angewandte Innovation Lab in Vienna. The show has been co-curated by Anab and Gerald Bast, President of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The exhibition is part of the 2017 Vienna Biennale organised by the MAK which investigates how robots and “work” will shape our futures.
THE FUTURE ENERGY LAB
The UAE Ministry of Energy and the Prime Minister’s Office invited us to help them shape the country's renewable energy strategy all the way till 2050 using our expertise in critical foresight and speculative design. We worked with them to develop a mechanism to experience numerous possible futures around energy, and to stress test the opportunities and broader systemic consequences of each future with Cabinet Ministers and key decision makers.
SONG OF THE MACHINE
Song of the Machine explores the possibilities of this new, modified vision, where wearers adjust for a reduced resolution by tuning into streams of information and electromagnetic vistas, all inaccessible to the ‘normally’ sighted.
