About
MON CANO
Designer & Researcher
Mon is a designer and researcher with an architectural background who has a keen interest in exploring the intersection of design and ideology.
Through his work, Mon examines the cultural significance of material ecologies and new technologies, which he sees as contemporary fossils that can subvert dominant narratives of the future. He moves between different artistic languages such as installation, sculpture, film, and publications, with a critical understanding and use of digital tools.
At Superflux, Mon works on both client-facing and internal research processes, focusing on shaping radical spaces that blend digital environment explorations, exhibition design, and material prototyping. His methodologies often involve researching infrastructural technologies and industrial processes to initiate conversations about the artificial modification of landscapes.
Mon’s personal practice has been developed both individually and in collaboration with various collectives, including La Cuarta Piel, which he co-founded in Spain. His work has been exhibited internationally, creating experiences of possible post-natural futures. Mon holds a Master’s degree in Architecture and has pursued a teaching career, delivering workshops and lectures in collaboration with different universities.
